Data & AI architecture and engineering since 2016
ARCHITECTING DATA INTELLIGENCE
From strategic consulting to advanced engineering, Foxcub designs and deploys data architectures that connect semantics, AI and Open Science.
OUR AREAS OF DATA EXPERTISE
We combine strategic consulting, semantic interoperability and data engineering to turn complex requirements into operational architectures, from organisational roadmaps to national and European research infrastructures. Our work is organised across three complementary areas: strategy, semantics and AI; national infrastructures and Open Science; European leadership and interoperability.
Data architecture at scale
We design and build distributed architectures for very large databases and knowledge graphs. We take them from strategy and governance to production, with performance and scaling built in.
Interoperable research infrastructures
We build shared foundations that connect research systems, catalogues and services. Open standards support durable exchange across institutions.
European programmes
We lead technical coordination across large, multi-partner European programmes. We align scientific goals, architecture choices and delivery.
Knowledge graphs & AI
We structure large data collections as traceable and reusable knowledge graphs. We use AI at scale to classify, connect and enrich them.
Open Science in production
We bring Open Science services into reliable production at national scale. Sovereign and secure infrastructures preserve institutional control and service continuity.
European standards & interoperability
We co-author official European recommendations that shape data and AI standards, including semantic interoperability. We sit in the key European forums where these frameworks are defined and aligned.
They trusted our consultants
Since 2016, we have supported research institutions, European consortia and private organisations, from data strategy and governance to the delivery of interoperable platforms and services.

What makes us different
We architect and build
Many organisations separate strategy from delivery, creating handovers where intent is diluted and responsibility becomes unclear. Our architects remain involved through design, implementation and large-scale production. The same team tests its choices against real constraints in performance, resilience and operations. Clients gain faster decisions, fewer translation gaps and a system that can actually be run.
We keep clients in control
Open foundations matter only when they preserve the client’s room to decide. We select and assemble proven components around each context rather than binding the organisation to one vendor or a closed platform. Data, architecture and operating knowledge remain transferable. Clients retain sovereignty over today’s service and the freedom to evolve it tomorrow.
We bring industry rigour
Research infrastructures must serve complex communities while meeting the reliability expected from production services. We bring engineering discipline to architecture decisions, quality, security, operations and delivery. We also coordinate distributed European teams so dependencies, risks and decisions remain visible. Clients gain infrastructure robust enough for long-term public missions and collaborative enough for research.
We write and apply the rules
Semantics only takes on its full value when it works across autonomous infrastructures, through testable services, shared interfaces and contracts, active semantic mediation, traceable and versioned data, and shared governance. We co-author Europe’s common research-data frameworks for federated services and catalogues, interoperability at every level and FAIR implementation, then translate them into production architectures. What we learn in production shapes the recommendations, and those recommendations guide systems that can connect across infrastructures and communities. Clients gain solutions that work locally today without becoming isolated from the European ecosystem tomorrow.
Our latest projects and collaborations
We coordinate and deliver data infrastructures for research institutions and European consortia, with a focus on semantic interoperability, Open Science and operational services.
EOSC DATA TERRA NODE
Architecture and development · In production since October 2026
Data Terra, France’s Earth system data infrastructure (CNRS, IRD, INRAE and partners), leads the EOSC environmental node with NFDI4Earth. Foxcub designed and developed its resource and service catalogue and took it into production in October 2026. Data, software, publications, semantic artefacts and services share a DCAT 3 model, published to the EOSC EU Node through OAI-PMH and the EOSC service profile, and to neighbouring nodes through DCAT JSON-LD.
FASCA
Toolbox design & development · 5 partners · 2024-2026
FASCA is an OPERAS project funded by OSCARS under Horizon Europe, extending GoTriple with a data science toolbox, a research chatbot and support for SSH pilot projects. Foxcub designed and built the Data Science Universal Toolbox, combining JupyterLab with a personal Neo4j graph powered by Graph Data Science. It gives researchers direct access to GoTriple’s multilingual corpus without any local installation.
GRAPHIA
Technical coordinator · 20 partners · 2025-2027
Foxcub provides technical coordination for GRAPHIA and contributes development and consulting to its shared environment for SSH data. The project combines a knowledge graph, semantic interoperability and AI-assisted services to improve data quality and reuse.
LUMEN
Technical coordinator · 19 partners · 2025-2027
Foxcub provides technical coordination for LUMEN and contributes development and consulting to its federated discovery architecture. The project connects platforms across mathematics, SSH, Earth science and molecular dynamics to support knowledge discovery and sharing for Open Science.
ATRIUM
Task member · 29 partners · 2024-2027
As an ATRIUM task member, Foxcub provides development and consulting for the interoperability of digital humanities catalogues and services. Its work supports metadata harmonisation and exchanges between research infrastructures, researchers and service providers.
SOUNDS OF LIFE
Technical coordinator · 13 partners · 2024-2025
Foxcub provided technical coordination, development and consulting for the Sounds of Life consortium. The platform supports the deposit, annotation and discovery of spatialised eco-acoustic recordings, structured according to FAIR principles and published in a Darwin Core format compatible with GBIF.
MATILDA
Technical coordinator · 2021-2026
Foxcub provides technical coordination, development and consulting for MATILDA. The project supports access to, exploration and reuse of reference and citation data from academic publications for Open Science.
GOTRIPLE
Task member · 22 partners · 2020-2023
As a TRIPLE task member, Foxcub contributed development and consulting to GOTRIPLE, the project’s multilingual discovery platform for SSH resources. The platform connects publications, projects and researcher profiles across languages and disciplines.
NAVIGAE
Technical coordinator · 2017-2023
Foxcub provided technical coordination, development and consulting for NAVIGAE. The platform brings together geographic research collections in a unified environment and supports the exploration of harmonised data, including Open Data sources.
